Before Your First Visit

What should I expect at my first chiropractic visit?

Your first visit is about understanding you — not rushing into treatment. Dr. Balta reviews your health history, listens to your symptoms and goals, and performs a hands-on exam to pinpoint what's driving your pain.

You'll then get a clear explanation of what he found and a personalized care plan. Plan on about 30–45 minutes, and wear comfortable clothing you can move in.

Do I need a referral to be seen?

No referral is needed. New patients can book directly — just call (714) 968-4446 or use our online booking page.

How do I book, and how soon can I be seen?

Book online anytime or call (714) 968-4446 during office hours. We do our best to see new and urgent patients quickly — especially after an auto or work injury, where early care matters most.

Hours: Mon & Fri 9:30am–7pm · Wed 12pm–7pm · Tue & Thu 9:30am–2pm · Closed weekends.

What should I bring to my appointment?

Bring a photo ID, your insurance card, and any relevant imaging or records (X-rays, MRI, accident reports). For an auto or work injury, bring your claim or case details so we can coordinate billing.

Safety & The Adjustment

Is chiropractic care safe?

Yes. Performed by a licensed chiropractor, adjustments are one of the safest, most natural, drug-free ways to relieve pain and restore movement. Dr. Balta has 30+ years of experience and tailors every adjustment to your condition, age, and comfort level.

Does a chiropractic adjustment hurt?

Most patients feel little to no discomfort — many feel immediate relief. An adjustment is a quick, controlled motion. If an area is already inflamed you may feel brief pressure, and we adjust our technique to keep you comfortable.

What is that popping sound during an adjustment?

It's simply gas releasing from the joint — the same harmless pop you hear when cracking your knuckles. It isn't bones grinding, and it's completely normal. Some adjustments make the sound and some don't.

Will I be sore after treatment?

Some patients feel mild soreness for a day or two, similar to starting a new exercise. It's a normal part of the body adapting to better movement and fades quickly. Dr. Balta will tell you exactly what to expect for your case.

Once I start, do I have to go forever?

No. Your care plan has a clear purpose and end point based on your goals. Many patients move into occasional maintenance visits, but that's always your choice — we never lock you into anything.

Results & Treatment

How many visits will I need before I feel better?

It depends on your condition, how long you've had it, and your goals. Some patients improve after one or two visits; longer-standing problems benefit from a short series of treatments. After your evaluation, Dr. Balta gives you a realistic timeline.

What conditions do you treat?

A wide range of musculoskeletal issues, including back pain, neck pain, sciatica, headaches, whiplash, disc herniation, disc degeneration, knee and elbow pain, and auto, work, and sports injuries.

What treatments and therapies do you offer?

Beyond hands-on chiropractic adjustments, we offer non-surgical spinal decompression, cold laser therapy, massage therapy, acupuncture, electrical stimulation, therapeutic exercise, and custom foot orthotics.

What is spinal decompression, and could it help me avoid surgery?

It's a non-surgical, FDA-cleared therapy that gently stretches the spine to relieve pressure on compressed discs and pinched nerves — helpful for herniated discs, sciatica, and degenerative disc disease. Sessions are relaxing and painless, and many patients considering surgery have found lasting relief this way. Ask Dr. Balta if you're a candidate.

Will I need X-rays or imaging?

Not always. Dr. Balta only recommends imaging when it adds something meaningful to your diagnosis or care plan. If you already have recent X-rays or an MRI, bring them and we'll review them together.

Will I get exercises to do at home?

Often, yes — and it helps. Simple stretches, posture tips, or therapeutic exercises make your results last between visits. Everything is tailored to your ability and lifestyle.

Cost, Insurance & Logistics

Do you accept insurance?

Yes — we accept many plans (10+), and most offer at least partial coverage for chiropractic care. Coverage varies, so we're happy to verify your benefits first. See our Insurance & Payment page or call us.

What if I don't have insurance?

No problem. We offer flexible self-pay and payment options to keep care accessible, plus new-patient and seasonal specials — including 2 spinal decompression sessions for $60. Check our current Special Offers.

Were you injured in a car accident or at work?

We provide focused care for auto injuries and work injuries, and handle the documentation involved. Seeking care early gives you the best chance at a full recovery. Bring your claim details and we'll guide you through the rest.
